After receiving five bids for work on a bridge just south of Milford at their last meeting, the commissioners awarded the project to a company out of Leo.

Pioneer Associates won the project with a bid of $262,151.06. That bid came in $37,302.44 lower than the engineer's estimate, and was more than $1,200 lower than the nearest bidder.

County Highway Superintendent Scott Tilden said the project on the bridge on Old 15 just south of Milford will begin in the spring.

The commissioners approved the following people as appointments in 2011 for county boards.

Gordon Vanator - Alcohol Beverage Commission

Dan Richard - Area Plan Director

Bob Conley - Area Plan Commission

Dr. William Remington - Board of Health medical director

Vic Virgil and Charlie Haffner - Board of Zoning Appeals

Ron Robinson - County Administrator

A public hearing was held for Enchanted Hills on a grant they have applied for through the Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

The grant is being administered through Bob Murphy.

The grants won't be awarded by the state until Dec. 30.

The commissioners approved agreements for maintenance and tech support for $3,194. The request was made by County Clerk Jason McSherry.

A change in personnel policies also was approved. It mainly deals with establishing what hours different departments work rather than having a uniform policy for different agencies.

Robinson said it would put more police on the road as well as improve the service of the highway department and dispatch.[[In-content Ad]]
