This is in response to Gary Eppenbaugh commending the commissioners on their lack of compassion and safety for the citizens in Koscuisko County.

First let me explain to Mr. Eppenbaugh what the job of our government officials consist of so he has a better understanding.

Its called conformity and guidance; if society did not need any direction we would have no elections for the people to have a choice on the proper individuals to guide our communities in the proper direction that will keep it safe and peaceful. If we had complete freedom there would be mass chaos, therefore, we have established rules. If those rules no longer apply to a fast changing society as tax payers we hire by vote those whom we think will provide us with the best solutions.

I don't know about you Gary, however, I would be highly upset if my 18-year-old son or daughter were forced to drive in that unsafe weather all because someone wants to make money off a hamburger.

What is more important money or safety?

Luckily no one was seriously injured or even worse died from the lack of compassion. However, my question to you Gary is would you feel different had your child, wife, any of your loved ones were killed due to dangerous road conditions.

Safety has nothing to do with freedom. It's called ethics. Calling a county emergency is not taking away freedom its ethically keeping people safe. You are wrong when you say everyone had a choice to drive in those conditions you could not be further from the truth. Yes, if you were shopping at Walmart that's your choice. However, making it to work because of the fear of losing your job or being punished with points is wrong when it could have been avoided.

The community needs the correct officials in office who will keep our community safe before you have a memory of that horrible day. You are right about one thing Gary, we as a community voted these people in office. Unfortunately a majority of people look at the Republican title and cast a vote simply on that. Lets not let history repeat it self.

During the next term of elections be more involved I know I will. I urge the community to go to the meetings ask questions that are important to you, therefore, you get an idea who is running our community.

We pay these officials to help us with our concerns. Keep in mind they work for us. I want my money to go to someone whom makes the right choices for the entire community not just a select few.

So in closing Gary, yes, I would hold the hands of every citizen man, women, child - even you - if it means avoiding a potential death. I am 100-percent sure that the majority of our residents would not scream they're taking our freedom had the commissioners choose to keep us safe.
