Coming Home

It's 8:30 a.m., Friday, July 9, and "She's coming home!" Here I sit along the side of Ind. 13 in a golf cart awaiting her arrival. People are going by looking at me as if I've completely lost my mind, but that's OK because "She's coming home!" There are several people awaiting her arrival today as it's been a long time since she's been here. But for those of us that know her, we know she is worth the wait!

Our town of North Webster has lost a few things since she's been gone, not so much the revenue, but especially the memories. She's been in so many lives for so long. She needed some well-deserved maintenance, but now she's back and better than ever!

You see, I'm talking about the Dixie Boat! How many of us rode on her in our early childhood and have returned with our own children and grandchildren to share the memories made on her?

She has participated in so much. Several weddings, birthdays, retirement parties and even a few funerals she has served for. It brings tears to my eyes. Now she has a new face-lift and new structure so she can continue to remain in our lives as well as our future.

So if you're needing something different to do, something unique, come and ride our Dixie as she's waiting for you!
