He was born Aug. 23, 1943, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Mortie and Lola Allen Shepherd. On June 11, 1966, in Warsaw, he married Janet Sue Templeton, who survives in Warsaw.
He was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1963, where he worked 38 years for Dalton Foundries, Warsaw, retiring in 2010. While at Dalton’s, he worked in maintenance and tool repair. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son: Todd Shepherd, Warsaw; a daughter, Lana (and spouse Toby) Farling, Warsaw; two granddaughters, Courtney and Chelsey Farling, both of Warsaw; three sisters: Irene Manns and Opal Arnett, both of Claypool, and Madeline Hopkins, Warsaw; two brothers, Edgal Shepherd, Prestonsburg, and Lewis Wedstel (and spouse Pat) Shepherd, Claypool. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruby Crothers and Vina Dotson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Chaplain Doug West and Chaplain Bob Jarobe officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
