NORTH MANCHESTER - Colleen Felabom, 81, of North Manchester, succumbed Sept. 27, 2008, in Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, and ascended into Heaven to be with her Heavenly Father and join her worldly father, mother, brother and sister, after an eight-month battle with colon cancer.

She was born March 23, 1927, in Kosciusko County, to Jonas and Dorothy Metzger Yoder. On Feb. 4, 1946, she married Wayne Helvey, who preceded her in death. On March 17, 1995, she married Richard Felabom, who died Feb. 18, 2000.

She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Mutual Security Insurance, Fort Wayne. She was a 1945 Silver Lake High School graduate and a member of West Eel River Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake.

Surviving are a son, Joe Helvey, Utah; two stepsons, James Felabom, Indianapolis, and Rich Felabom, Warsaw; two daughters, Kitty (and spouse Jim) Bick, Rochester, and Mindy Rykard, Fort Wayne; four stepdaughters: Jane Middlekauff, Indianapolis; Jeannine Felabom Basquin, New Zealand; Joyce (and spouse Ron) Eberly, North Manchester; and Dixie (and spouse Tom) Pifer, Warsaw; two brothers, Daniel (and spouse Jan) Yoder, Claypool, and Richard (and spouse Marilyn) Yoder, Goshen; four grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Yoder, and a sister, Sally Yoder.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with the Rev. Paul Tinkel officiating. Burial will be in Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, rural Silver Lake.

Calling is from 1 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
