For violations against the club, American Legion Post 49, North Buffalo Street, Warsaw, paid $1,000 in fines, a representative of the organization told the Kosciusko County Alcohol Beverage Commission Thursday.
The club's permits for beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits were up for renewal yesterday. Excise Officer Patty Fleck, ABC member, asked the representative to explain the violations.
One violation was for having gambling machines in the club. The ABC was told the machines no longer are in the building.
For the other violation, a fairly new bartender left her bartender's license at home the day the excise police visited the Legion Post. Since then, everyone's licenses have been copied and are stored at the club to prevent a future problem.
After hearing the testimony, the ABC voted unanimously to approve the permit renewals.
The board also unanimously approved the dealer permit renewal for beer, wine and liquor sales for Service Liquors, South Lake Street, Warsaw.
Since December, Service Liquors has been working with the state alcohol prosecutor to clear a violation.
Allegedly, a minor purchased a bottle of alcohol from Service Liquors. A Service Liquors employee had said the minor had an ID, but the videotape of the purchase is unclear.
Representatives of Service Liquors Thursday said they ended up paying a $400 fine for the violation and have since put in a better security system.
A transfer of ownership of Sunday sales and beer and wine permits for Louie's Bar & Grill, Syracuse, was approved.
In other business, the ABC approved the following renewals which had no violations:
• Pizza Hut, U.S. 30, Warsaw, beer and wine and Sunday sales retailer permits.
• Spike's Beach Grill, Eastlake Drive, Warsaw, beer, wine and liquor dealer permit.
• Stonehenge Golf & Country Club, East Pierceton Road, Winona Lake, beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits.
• Liquid Assets Fine Spirits, East Center Street, Warsaw, beer, wine and liquor dealer permit.
• Gilliam Lanes, Ind. 15N, Warsaw, beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits.
• Kale Island Beacon Restaurant, North Kings Drive, Syracuse, beer, wine and liquor retailer permit.
• CVS, East Pickwick Drive, Syracuse, beer, wine and liquor dealer permit
• CVS, South Main Street, North Webster, beer, wine and liquor dealer permit.
• The Keg, West Van Buren Street, Leesburg, beer and wine and Sunday sales retailer permits.
• Mentone Tavern, Main Street, Mentone, beer and wine retailer permit.
Members of the ABC are chairman Gordon Vanator, Kenneth Johnson, Elim Smith and excise officer Patty Fleck. They meet at 1 p.m. in the county courthouse, Warsaw, on the first Thursday of every month. [[In-content Ad]]
