Singles Meeting Friends Gathered
The Singles Meeting Friends gathered for its weekly happy hour at Hacienda.
Last week, Charlene asked everyone to bring something from an ancestor to share. Since just about everybody forgot, they shared where their ancestors were from: her family has a family cookbook; she has Cherokee Indian and German in her heritage; she has an antique sour kraut cutter that has been passed down through the family; her grandmother’s parents came from Ireland and Germany; she brought a picture of her father as a child; her grandmother came from Ireland and her grandfather came from Germany; she went to Ellis Island and was able to trace her relatives; her grandfather’s parents came from Germany and her grandmother’s parents came from Wales, their last name was Jones, and since Tom Jones is from Wales; she would like to trace her roots; her relatives are from Ireland and Germany; her ancesotrs are German Dutch, and she has an ancestor that was the governor of Georgia. Does anybody else see a pattern here? The majority of our ancestors came from Ireland and Germany.
Charlene went on to read some tidbits from the “Red Green Duct Tape” book: some of the 10 ways to maintain your privacy are: put out signs saying to watch for land mines, rewire the doorbell so it sounds like gunshots, put a sign on the door that reads “caution, exercism in progress,” add quarantine signs. It’s humbling when the voices in your head are talking to someone else. He who laughs last, had to wait for the stitches to come out. Monster trucks are for people who don’t understand wrestling.
Edie presented Annette with a gift card, from the group, in lieu of sending flowers to her while she was in the hospital. They hope she splurges and spends it on something nice for herself.
This weekend is Warsaw’s Fire & Ice in the downtown area.
Feb. 11 at the North Webster American Legion is its annual Valentine’s party. The Classics will provide music, and there will be no cover charge. The group has decided to make this event their Valentine party. There will be a table reserved.
Thanks to Jim for opening his home Saturday for an evening of fun, relaxation, food, friends and euchre. It was great seeing Millie, Barb and Deb again.
Edie has the schedule for the Round Barn Theatre’s 2012 season in Nappanee. Individual tickets for only the plays are $27.95, while dinner and the theater are about $45.16. Matinees start at 2 p.m. Contact Edie, as soon as possible, if you are interested in attending any of the following plays.
