Incumbent Lynne Christiansen received the most votes for the Warsaw clerk-treasurer seat and Cindy Dobbins and Jack Wilhite received the most for the Warsaw City Council at-large seats during Tuesday’s primary.
Larry Ladd also sought the clerk-treasurer seat.
There were two Warsaw city council at-large seats available. Dobbins, Connie Fribley, Patrick Loebs, Justin Risner, Juergen Voss, and Wilhite sought the seats. Elaine Call is not seeking re-election.
Dobbins and Wilhite will face Democrat Dave Baumgartner in the November election.
Christiansen was elected during a caucus in 2010 after Call resigned as clerk-treasurer, and won the general election in 2011.
“I’m overwhelmed and overjoyed and totally humbled to think the citizens of Warsaw believe in me and trust me,” Christiansen said.
She received her Indiana Accredited Municipal Clerk status and is working toward her Certified Municipal Clerk status. Under her leadership the city changed its financial software.
Dobbins started her first term on the council in January 2012, and is halfway through the fourth year of her first term.
“Im elated and know there will be a struggle in the fall because we have a candidate running on the democrat ticket who is well-liked and respected,” Dobbins said. “I’m wanting to serve another term because there is so much going on in the city and I would like to see our projects through completion.”
If re-elected in November she would like to be a part of the Market Street and North Buffalo Street redevelopment and advocate for more town hall meetings.
Wilhite said he feels good about the win and said it was interesting campaigning and getting to know people and what mattered to them.
“I look forward to being able to serve them,” Wilhite said. “Warsaw has been steady with economic growth and the city has gone forward to develop Market and North Buffalo streets and I hope to be able to be a part of those sort of things.”
He thanked the voters for putting their trust in him and said he hopes to serve them well.
Wilhite said he hopes to give an even hand when it comes to government and individual rights.
“No one likes taxes, but unfortunately you need some sometimes to provide police and fire protection,” Wilhite said.
Those unopposed in Tuesday’s primary were Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer; City Council District 1, Jeff Grose; District 2, Charlie Smith; District 3, Mike Klondaris; District 4, Jerry Frush; and District 5, Diane Quance.

The Lawless Party
Editor, Times-Union: Democrats have a long history of supporting lawlessness and they have the nerve to say no one is above the law. At times they act like spoiled children that expect to get their way all the time even if they have been naughty.
