She was born May 21, 1911, in Rethmeno, Island of Crete, Greece, to Pantelis and Stella Kasimatis. On Sept. 30, 1938, she married Sophos G. Symond, who died July 8, 2001.
She lived in Syracuse for 22 years, coming from Pennsylvania. She was a homemaker and attended Living Faith Fellowship Church South and Columbia City Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are two daughters, Clara Tahmisian, Columbia City, and Louise Sweet, Fresno, Calif.; a son, Dr. John Symond, Melrose, Mass.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; a sister, Emily, Greece; and a brother, Paul, Greece. She was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Chapel, Syracuse, with Pastor Don Mishler officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
