NORTH MANCHESTER - Clara Reed, 83, North Manchester, died at 12:05 a.m. Aug. 22, 2008, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

She was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Casey, Ill., to Elmer and Flora Briggs. On Dec. 15, 1945, she married Hubert Reed, who died Aug. 24, 2001.

She was a homemaker and retired from Bay State Abrasives, North Manchester. She was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1943-1945. She was a member of Olive Branch Church of God, Roann.

Surviving are two sons: Greg Reed, Woodburn; Myron (and spouse Cheryl) Reed, New Haven; two daughters: Melanie (and spouse Rick) Baber, Wabash, and Christine (and spouse Stan) Robison, Roann; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, five brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with the Rev. Lowell Burrus officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
