City To Spend $900K On Fire Trucks

Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved the city purchasing two new fire trucks for the Warsaw Fire Department.

The cost of the two fire trucks is $913,000 and will be purchased by Pierce Manufacturing Inc., Appleton, Wis.

"The current fire trucks are aging and need to be replaced," said Warsaw Fire Chief Mike Rice.[[In-content Ad]]The current 1986 truck will be retired and the 1991 fire truck will be used as a reserve truck, Rice said.

In other business, the board approved a shoreline stabilization engineering feasibility and design study to be completed on Center Lake.

The $28,500 contract will allow V3 Companies of Illinois to complete the study.

The purpose of the study is to determine the feasibility of specific shoreline stabilization measures for the designated 730 feet of shoreline in the southwest portion of the lake adjacent to Central Park.

Mayor Ernie Wiggins read an oath of office for Timothy S. Whitright who was sworn in as a Warsaw Police officer.

The board also:

n Approved Warsaw Parks Department event contracts for a fall family fun storyteller Oct. 3; and a contract with Joni Cripe, Animal Grams, for a mobile petting farm for the fall family fun event; and a contract for security for Celebracîon Latina that was Sept. 13.

n Approved the Warsaw Police Department to receive the remaining 75 percent of its Victims of Crime Act grant.
