The resolution is required by the ADA. Municipalities must develop and adopt a transition plan that documents physical barriers to accessibility, proposed structural modifications to remove those barriers and a schedule to complete those modifications.
The council also approved an anti-nepotism policy resolution. The new law mandates all local governments adopt and implement anti-nepotism policies that restrict local officials from hiring or promoting their relatives.
It also compels local elected officials to disclose any financial ties they may have with contractors that receive taxpayer dollars.
The council heard from Dr. Nate Bosch, Kosciusko Lakes and Streams director, on the 2012 lakes festival. The festival was June 9 and 10 in Warsaw and Winona Lake. The 2013 festival will be June 8 and 9 on Center and Winona Lakes.
The city reviewed an emailed letter from Hillary Hamman, 2201 E. Market St. The letter thanked the Warsaw Street Department for fixing a large pothole in front of her driveway.
The city also reviewed a letter from Sharyn Whitman, chief executive officer for Indiana-Ohio Region of the American Red Cross, thanking the city for sponsoring a blood drive at Warsaw’s First Friday July 6.
The council approved transferring $3,000 in human resources professional funds into equipment; transferring $1,000 from human resources repair and maintenance into equipment; and $500 from office supplies into operating supplies.
The transfers are to replace an identification maker and supplies and mandatory postings of new hire, OSHA and federal and state law postings.[[In-content Ad]]
