City OKs Cuts From 2007 Budget Totaling $414,700

Warsaw City Council approved line two budget cuts for 2007 during a special meeting Friday.

The cuts totaled $414,700 for money the departments did not use in 2007 and will not spend.[[In-content Ad]]The council approved a $3,000 reduction in the mayor's budget.

The human resources general fund received a $7,000 reduction.

The council's general fund budget received a $75,000 reduction with the highest cut at $60,000 for council professional services.

The police general fund budget received a $28,000 cut with $14,000 cuts for both police salaries and pension.

The fire department general fund received a $30,500 cut with the highest reduction of $19,000 for fire salaries.

The street department general fund received a $227,000 reduction with street department salaries accounting for $146,000 of the reduction.

The building and planning department general fund received a $13,000 reduction with the building and planning salaries accounting for $9,000 of the reduction.

The cemetery department received an $11,700 reduction with cemetery salaries accounting for $8,000 in the reduction.

The park budget received a $15,000 reduction with park salaries accounting for $12,000.

The clerk general fund budget received a $4,500 reduction with the highest reduction of $3,000 for clerk unemployment.

The council also approved a resolution for reduction of encumbrances that will be submitted to the department of local government finance.

The encumbrance were for six funds including the cemetery fund at $3,002.11, a $2,923.57 reduction; the park fund at $23,967.43, a $7,277.26 reduction; the aviation fund at $31,077.14, an $11,175.41 reduction; the riverboat fund at $10,659.18, a $21,575.86 reduction; the general fund at $323,634.70, a $64,663.16 reduction and the cumulative capital development fund at $262,104.83, an $8,599.54 reduction.

The council also approved an ordinance amending personnel employees handbooks for general, fire, police and civilian police listing holidays with pay.
