Mike Brubaker, Warsaw fire chief, made the request during Friday’s Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety meeting for the territory to donate equipment to the high school.
Board member Jeff Grose made the motion for the donation, seconded by board member Charlie Smith.
The equipment is outdated or has not been in service due to the purchase of new fire trucks that had newer equipment on them, according to Brubaker.
Some of the equipment includes a 1-3/4 inch fire hose, 3- and 4-inch fire hoses, ground ladders and scuba bottles and face pieces.
Brubaker said he has talked to Mike Valentine, city attorney, who advised him to have WCHS pay $1 for the equipment.
The class that will use the equipment will allow students to graduate with a Firefighter I Certification.
In other business, the board approved a $10,776 contract between Warsaw Parks Department and Sinclair Recreation for the replacement of safety tiles at Kiddieland Park.
The existing tiles are deteriorating and don’t provide the proper fall protection required and are a tripping hazard, according to Larry Plummer, Warsaw Parks Department superintendent.
The board opened bids for new ADA compliant restrooms at Beyer Park. Smith read three bids from UT & C Construction LLC, Clint Davis Construction, and Butt and Timmons
The board approved Warsaw Parks Department applying for an amusement entertainment permit with the Department of Homeland Security for parks department concerts and programs.[[In-content Ad]]
