City Approves DePuy Tax Abatement, Tattoo Ordinance

The tax abatement was for new manufacturing and research and development equipment at 700 Orthopedics Drive.
DePuy will invest $20 million in personal property or manufacturing equipment and $7 million in research and development equipment.
At this time, DePuy does not anticipate hiring any new employees as outlined within its tax abatement application.
Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins thanked DePuy for their investment in the community.
In other business, the council approved an ordinance to permit tattoo parlors as special exceptions in Commercial-2 zoning districts.
The ordinance also allows tattoo establishments as permitted uses in C-3, C-5, Industrial-2 and I-3 zoning districts.
The council approved the recommendation from Warsaw Plan Commission for the ordinance.
City councilman and plan commission member Jeff Grose said he felt the ordinance was a step in the right direction.
The ordinance also allows farm implement and supply companies as permitted uses in C-3, C-5, I-1, I-2 and I-3; landscaping companies as permitted uses in I-1, I-2 and I-3; lumber yards as permitted uses in C-5, I-1, I-2 and I-3; nurseries and greenhouses as permitted uses in I-1, I-2 and I-3; and parking garages and lots as permitted uses in C-2, C-3, C-4, and C-5 and I-1, I-2 and I-3.[[In-content Ad]]
