SYRACUSE – A group of teenagers from the Community Church of Waterford in Goshen gave up part of their Labor Day weekend to donate their time to helping Teen Parents Succeeding.
The church’s high school youth group gathered at the Teen Parents Succeeding facility on Poplar Street in Syracuse Saturday and built a sandbox for the children who attend TPS’s childcare while their parents attend school and work.
Within the past few months, the Community Church of Waterford has donated their time and labor to help TPS with numerous projects including spring cleaning, painting, remodeling, yard work, putting together new cribs and building cubbies for the children’s belongings.
“We are so grateful to the church for all they’ve done for us. The children are really going to enjoy the sandbox,” stated TPS Executive Director Janet Weirick.
Teen Parents Succeeding is a non-profit organization that helps teenage parents in the Wawasee School District stay in school and complete their education.
In addition to other support services, TPS is a licensed childcare facility that provides low-cost childcare to student parents.
More information can be obtain from the organization's website www.teenparentssucceeding.org or by calling 574-457-3541.
