SYRACUSE – Christine R. “Chris” Bitting, 53, Syracuse, passed away at 6:50 p.m. July 15, 2015, in her home.
She was born March 3, 1962, in Springfield, Ohio, to H. Stanley and H. Marie Beamer Gardner. On June 29, 1996, in Leesburg, she married Douglas D. “Doug” Bitting, who survives in Syracuse.
She attended Goshen High School and graduated in 1980 from Wawasee High School. She attended Lutheran Nursing School in Fort Wayne.
She lived most of her life in the Goshen and Syracuse areas. She was employed at Triangle Rubber in Goshen for 10-plus years in the personnel and payroll department and formerly worked at Vitco in Nappanee.
She formerly attended the 1st English Lutheran Church in Goshen.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Kelli (and spouse James) Rolston, Syracuse; two sons, Mat (and spouse Sarah) Conway, Cromwell, and Trenton (and spouse Sarah) Conway, Muncie; her mother, Marie Watson, Syracuse; two stepdaughters, April (and spouse Troy) Deeter, Nappanee, and Heather (and spouse Al) Chupp, Etna Green; three stepsons: Chad Bitting, Goshen; Courtney (and spouse Jamie) Bitting, Etna Green; Josh Bitting, Arkansas; a sister, Kim (and spouse Gene) Gingerich, Goshen; a brother, Paul (and spouse Sherri) Gardner, Goshen; two half brothers, Jason Gardner, Oklahoma, and Joshua (and spouse Amy) Gardner, Ocean Springs, Miss.; three stepsisters: Sharon (and spouse Charles) Stuckman, Syracuse; Alicia (and spouse Steve) Kiser and Mitzi Wenkleneau, all of Fort Myers, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and 16 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; stepfather, Donald M. Watson; and brother, H. Mark Gardner.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, with the Rev. Lenny Krebs, retired pastor from the former Benton Free Baptist Church, officiating. Burial is in Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
