Choosing Nisly

We are approaching the May 6 primary date in Indiana where both parties will be choosing nominees for various offices in many different levels of government. However, these elections are different than in years past because people are beginning to demand a little bit more accountability from their representatives. There are many people around here who are getting sick and tired of the status quo and I am right there beside them.
Over the last couple of years, Rebecca Kubacki has promoted an act of putting the state above the people. How can a person who in 2012 said that she was against taking freedom away from Hoosiers support an agenda that supports the exact opposite? Rebecca Kubacki supported an agenda that backs uniform education standards across the nation, watering down our Second Amendment rights to protect ourselves picking up our kids, and wants Hoosiers to go to a doctor to get a prescription for a cold medicine because a small group of people created an illicit version of a common medication. What she wants to tout is a record of recognizing veterans, making it easier for children to be adopted and the financial stability of our state. These are things that a vast majority of Hoosiers all support. Why is it Rebecca Kubacki refusing to run on her entire record?
I have met Curt Nisly a couple of times and the more I have talked to him, the more I believe that he is closer in line to my ideological beliefs. Do we agree on every issue? No, but I don’t expect to find a person running for office that I agree 100 percent on every issue. I at least expect that he will at least listen to my opinion and take it into account when he votes on issues that will be coming up in the next General Assembly. After serious thought, I believe that Curt Nisly is the more conservative choice to be the state representative for District 22.
One last thought: Every opinion letter I’ve ever written, every political discussion I’ve had with friends, strangers, etc, I have stuck to the principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Thomas Jefferson’s words should ignite a fire in people because our government, at all levels has not been doing a good job in allowing the people to work toward those principles. There are many people who serve in the Congress and the Indiana General Assembly who have brought an agenda of statism, control and bigger government and I hope that many of you are tired of it. There are many people in District 22 and around the country who are calling for an American revival, and politicians who believe that more legislation can solve all of our problems are going to find themselves out of office. What I do not understand is that the people who currently hold seats in government see people who disagree with the statism as “activists.” Well, then if that is the case, I’ll wear my activist label as a badge of honor!
