Chester Shepherd, 82, Warsaw, passed away at 4:05 p.m. April 14, 2014, in Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation.
He was born Dec. 8, 1931, in Arthurmable, Ky., to Frank and Ella Wireman Shepherd. He was married to his wife Mary, who preceded him in death.
He retired from Kralis Brothers Foods of Mentone in 1996 where he worked in the food processing department. He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, fishing and all activities outdoors. He was an avid Indiana University basketball fan and NASCAR fan with his favorite driver being #24, Jeff Gordon.
Surviving are four daughters: Cathy (and spouse David) Cox, Warsaw; Cheryl Blair, Virgina Beach, Va.; Patricia Hollister, Albany, N.Y.; Teresa Shepherd, North Carolina; two sons, Mike (and spouse Susan) Shepherd, Silver Lake, and Frank Shepherd, Warsaw; two brothers, Joe Shepherd, Silver Lake, and Jeff (and spouse Vicki) Shepherd, North Webster; four sisters: Ocie (and spouse Cecil) Shumaker, Akron; Cynthia Harmon, Wabash; Thelma Jackson, North Manchester; and Avenell (and spouse Gary) Smith, Akron. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, one son and one daughter.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating.
McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements.
