NORTH MANCHESTER - Chester B. Allen, 81, formerly of Silver Lake, died at 1:05 p.m. April 15, 2009, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born March 30, 1928, in Magoffin County, Ky., to Smith and Hattie Howard Allen. On Feb. 11, 1946, he married Naomi Ruth Oney, who died Jan. 5, 2005.

He was a supervisor at the former Bryan Manufacturing, North Manchester, and retired from Kinder Manufacturing, Warsaw, in 1992.

Surviving are a son, Chet Allen Jr., Fort Wayne; two daughters, Dianna (and spouse Lynn) Parker, Silver Lake, and Debbie (and spouse Phil) Zile, North Manchester; a sister, Ella Ree (and spouse Canton) Moore, Claypool; 22 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and four sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Stout officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.

Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
