By TIFFANY SHAW, Times-Union Staff Writer-

A parked car finally stopped a fleeing suspect being pursued by police.

Bradley Caywood, 26, Warsaw, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and trying to flee from arrest. A passenger and the owner of the car, Justin Caywood, 21, Warsaw, was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital for head injuries and later released.

The chase began at 11;35 p.m. on Ind. 15 and Ranch Road when Deputy Sheriff Bill Kelly attempted to pull Caywood over for suspected drunk driving. Caywood continued down Prairie Street with Kelly following.

Caywood was forced to stop on Pope Street to wait for a train. Kelly approached the car, but the train cleared the tracks and Caywood took off with Kelly still in pursuit. Caywood tried to cut through the Max Capel Motors parking lot.

As Caywood tried to circle back to the street, he hit a vehicle and bounced back, striking another parked car and finally coming to a stop.

Caywood said he ran from the police because Justin said he had no insurance. Bradley's blood alcohol test was .253 percent, over the legal limit of .10 percent.

Damage to all three vehicles involved was estimated at $9,000. [[In-content Ad]]
