He was born May 5, 1940, in Van Lear, Ky., to Russell and Georgene Adams Duty. On Feb. 6, 1989, in Paintsville, Ky., he married Brenda Gaile Collier, who survives.
He was a Pierceton resident for the past 28 years. He was a retired machinist for Zimmer, Warsaw. He attended school in Kentucky.
Also surviving are three sons: Troy Duty, Warsaw; Roy (and spouse Deb) Fields, Pierceton; and Charles (and spouse Kim) Newman, Goshen; three daughters: Georgina (and spouse Paul) Taber, Paducah, Ky.; Tammie (and spouse Tom) Davis, Warsaw; and Jessica Fields, Pierceton; six grandchildren; three brothers: Larry (and spouse Nancy) Duty, Van Lear; Tom Duty, Paintsville; and Jack (and spouse Sue) Duty, Blacksburg, Va.; two sisters, Marie (and spouse Stoney) Rowland, Stanton, Ky., and Judy Ann (and spouse Earl) Ward Sr., Claypool. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City, with certified funeral celebrants Eddie P. Beagles and Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
