ANDERSON – Charles William Landes Jr., 85, of Anderson, died Dec. 27, 2012, in his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born May 7, 1927, in Anderson, to Charles William and Della Sadie Brooks Landes, where he lived all of his life. On Dec. 28, 1947, he married Charlotte Marie Fillmann, who survives in Anderson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the 11th Regiment to occupied China during World War II. He worked production at Delco Remy 43 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of West Cross Street Alliance Church; Moonsville Conservation Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266; and United Auto Workers Local 662; and a life member of Roosevelt Kennedy Club. He attended Ball State University. Also surviving are his children: Della Swain, Warsaw; Doris (and spouse Larry) Allen, Butlerville; Diana McNew, Ogden, Utah, and Charles Andrew (and spouse Lisa) Landes, Fairmount; eight grandchildren: Michelle (and spouse Troy) Barrand, Fort Wayne; Laura (and spouse Clint) Vandergrifft, Muncie; Ken Swain Jr., Warsaw; Chris (and spouse Joni) Allen, Alexandria; Diana Renae, Valerie and David McNew, all of Ogden, Utah; and Kelly (and spouse Stacy) Howard, Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Don Landes and Phil (and spouse Marilyn) Landes, all of Anderson, and Ruth (and spouse Richard) Baxter, Fort Wayne. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Bob Brown officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery with military rites provided by members of VFW Post 266 Honor Guard.
