He fought a long and hard battle against leukemia; he fought this battle with courage, pride, honor, and lots of love and support.
He was born June 11,1951, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Richard and Aggie Poe Gibson.
He honorably served his country in United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1972, being discharged as a Corporal (E-4). He then enlisted in the Indiana National Guard in 1981 and held the rank of Sergeant First Class at the time of his retirement in 1997. He was a mentor, father figure, and teacher to many others.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Renee Laurino Gibson; two children, Kevin and Charlie Gibson; and beloved granddaughter, Adalyn “Gracie” Gibson, all of Warsaw; three sisters: Becky (and spouse Gary) Krotke, Laketon, Joyce (and spouse Carl) Arnett, Pierceton, and Dottie (and spouse Bill) Teeter, North Manchester; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Laurino and father-in-law, Sammie Vickers. both of Warsaw; best friends, Alan and Deb Johnson, Warsaw; eight brother and sister-in-laws and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Donald R. Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites rendered by the Warsaw American Legion Post 49, V.F.W. Post 1126 and the Marine Corps Funeral Honor Guard.
Calling will be one hour prior to services and from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
