Charles W. Cooper Jr., 76, of 302 S. Grant St., Warsaw, died at 10:22 p.m. April 28, 2007, in his residence.
He was born Oct. 31, 1930, in Nashville, Tenn., to Charles Sr. and Mary Morris Cooper. In 1987, he found his soul mate, Tamara "Tammy" Finley, whom he married on Oct. 24, 1998, in Nashville, Tenn., for his birthday. She survives.
A 30-year resident, he was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, Silver Lake, and a lifetime member of Pierceton American Legion Post 256. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 128th Armored Ordinance Maintenance Battalion. He retired as owner of Cooper Construction, Warsaw, after more than 50 years.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Derek (Sherry) Barnes, Elkhart; two stepdaughters, Marie Grubb, at home, and Theresa Finley, Warsaw; five sons: Stephen (and wife Sheila) Cooper, Fountain, Colo.; Scott Cooper, Dayton, Ohio; Dan (and wife Wanda) Cooper, Warsaw; Ronnie Slick, Frankton; and Kurt Lambert, Fort Wayne; a sister, Mrs. Rick (Joyce) Hodson, Jonesboro; two brothers, Morris (and wife Peggy) and Bobby Cooper, both of Eldwood; three granddaughters, Magdelynn Wood and Ashley Brooks, both of Warsaw, and Darcey Helle, Showlow, Ariz.; two grandsons, Ryan Slick, Showlow, and Jon Cooper, Dayton; a great-grandson; and two great-granddaughters.
He loved his wife, family, horses, nature, church and home life.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Loren Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
