NAPPANEE – Charles L. Jones, 78, of Nappanee, died at 1:45 a.m. Aug. 26, 2013, in Elkhart General Hospital. He had been in ill health for two years.
He was born Jan. 22, 1935, in South Bend, to Russell and Alice Bartz Jones. On Dec. 26, 1957, at St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Bourbon, he married Anna Jo Dinkeldein, who survives.
He was a graduate of Tyner High School. He served in the United States Army in Germany. He retired from Newmar after working there for 25 years. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Church of God and enjoyed woodworking. He enjoyed being called Boo by his family. He loved his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play ball.
Also surviving are a daughter, Lorrie (and spouse George) Tancos, Granger; a son, Jeff (and spouse Kelly) Jones, Wakarusa; four grandchildren, Jordan and Elizabeth Tancos and Camaron and Caleb Jones; three sisters: Phyllis Tschupp, Nebraska; Marian (and spouse Wayne) Zillmer, Bremen; and Linda Warner, Mishawaka; and a brother, Melvin Jones, Plymouth. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Jones.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Tabor Church of God with The Rev. Jeremy Grueser officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and for one hour Thursday prior to the funeral at the church.
