Charles L. “Bud” Rose, 85, of Winona Lake, died at 8:10 a.m. Aug. 26, 2012, in Grace Village Assisted Living, Winona Lake.

He was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Nappanee, to Charles V. and Hazel James Rose. On March 17, 1956, in Detroit, Mich., he married Dorothy Bankovich, who died May 15, 2012.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army Sept. 18, 1950, in Fort Knox, Ky., and served during the Korean War with the 7th Cavalry. CPL Charles L. Rose was honorably discharged July 21, 1952, from Camp Carson, Colo. Moving to Winona Lake from Columbus, Ind., he worked at Mobile Communication, Detroit, Mich., for 45 years, retiring in 1990.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Helen Fisher, Orlando, Fla.; two stepgrandchildren, Christine (and spouse Ed) Shaheen, Winder, Ga., and Richard (and spouse Charlene) Juliani, Charmichaels, Pa.; six step-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Donna Rose, Etna Green, and Norma Irwin and Alice Bennett, both of Warsaw.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Joe Graham officiating. Burial will be in Etna Green Cemetery.

Calling is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
