Charles “Joe” Whicker, 74, of Warsaw, died at 11:54 a.m. Jan. 23, 2012, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Sept. 17, 1937, in Harford City, to Charles Virgil and Virginia Lee Hollenbeck Whicker. On Oct. 9, 1960, in Warsaw, he married Sharon E. Pippenger, who survives.

Moving to Warsaw from Harford City in 1966, he was a tool and die maker for Fisher Body, Marion, for 33 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Local 977 Union United Auto Workers. He loved fishing and enjoyed reading, woodworking and watching old westerns.

Surviving are a son, Joe (and spouse Charlotte)  Whicker, Elkhart; two daughters, Linda Boeshart   (and Aaron Bice) Boeshart, Huntington Beach, Calif., and  Amy (and spouse Greg) Barry, Warsaw; three granddaughters, Elly (and spouse Tyler) Gorski and Erin Boeshart, all of Huntington Beach, and Miranda Whicker, Elkhart.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, officiated by Father Philip DeVolder of the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
