He was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Stroh, to Claude and Ula Holdread Davis. On Sept. 14, 1946, he married G. Ruth Cox, who preceded him in death in 1999.
He was retired from Woody Everly and Sons as a truck driver. He proudly served the country in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945 with the Seabees during World War II. He was a 70-year member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, Warsaw.
He is survived by a son, Greg (and spouse Linda) Davis, Winona Lake; three sisters: Bonnie Barrett, Tippecanoe; Hariett Brown, Winona Lake; Valerie (and spouse Noble) Kintzel, Etna Green; three grandchildren: Holly (and spouse Jeff) Washer, Jenna (and spouse Dustin) Dammeier and Wesley (and spouse Jillian) Rodman; three great-grandchildren: Mason Washer, Jacee and Braden Dammeier, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; a daughter, Marsha; and a son, Larry.
A graveside service with military honors by American Legion Post 253 and the Military Honor Guard will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe, Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, officiating.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
