Charles “Eddy” Slone, 46, Grant, Fla., died at 11:50 a.m. Dec. 9, 2013, in Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla.
He was born Aug. 2, 1967, to Charles “Ed” and Linda Slone.
He was a 1985 graduate of Warsaw Community High School. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy, stationed at Charleston, S.C., and served aboard the U.S.S. Worden (Leahy-class cruiser) CG-18 from 1985 to 1988.
He was employed by Dr. Richard Bunt, Melbourne, Fla. In addition he was employed in the security profession for several years and has resided in Warsaw, California and Florida, He enjoyed scuba diving, auto racing and the Miami Dolphins and Florida Gators football. However, most of all his nephews were his “pride and joy.”
Surviving are his mother, Linda Slone Gatke, Warsaw; a sister, Brigette (and spouse Darren) Young, Warsaw; three nephews, Brenden Barber, Cameron Shepherd and Garrett Young, all of Warsaw; a daughter, Cassandra Fleck, Akron, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Billy Smith officiating.
