He was born Dec. 21, 1938, in Fulton County, to Homer C. and Ferrell Schindler Saner. In October 1958, he married Faye Shelmadine, who died in March 1985. On April 12, 1986, in Huntington, he married Lily B. Chapman, who survives.
He worked at Pike Lumber Co., Akron, and retired from Sealed Power, Rochester, in 1998, after 32 years. He was a 1957 Akron High School graduate and a member of and played bass guitar at the New Beginning Worship Center, Huntington. He raced stock cars at Warsaw Speedway with the name of Farmer Saner and his car number was 8. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Also surviving are five daughters: Dianna (and spouse Ron) Baker, Warsaw; Lynette (and spouse Robert) Howatt, Syracuse; Yvonne (and spouse Trent) Grage, Little Rock, Ark.; Crissy (and spouse Jesse) Allison, Silver Lake; and Stella Bradford, North Manchester; a brother, Fred (and spouse Willodene) Saner, Silver Lake; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Loyd, Bob and Roy Saner; his parents; and a son, Jeff White, who died in 2000.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Taylor Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Calling is from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
