Adding one charge could result in two other charges being dismissed against a Goshen man accused in connection with the death of a Milford woman.

Ralph Freddrick Fisher, 46, came before Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Rex Reed Monday seeking that the charges pending against him be dismissed.

Fisher was charged in January with assisting a criminal and unlawful movement of a body. The charges result from the alleged murder of 48-year-old Kathy Vroman of Milford. Fisher's son, Jason Fisher, 22, of Middlebury, is charged with Vroman's murder.

Ralph Fisher's attorney, Thomas Leatherman of Goshen, previously filed a motion for dismissal in the case, claiming his client was not aware of his son's alleged actions. The elder Fisher reportedly told his son and an alleged accomplice, Lawrence Grant, how to clean up the evidence of the shooting and dispose of Vroman's body.

Police believe Vroman was killed inside Country Car Co., a Milford business owned by Jason Fisher at which Vroman was employed. Her body was later found partially snow-covered in a wooded area near Three Rivers, Mich.

Officials also indicate that the murder is connected to an auto theft ring and three other men, including Vroman's husband, face charges related to area vehicle thefts.

On Monday, Kosciusko County Prosecutor Chuck Waggoner filed a new charge against Ralph Fisher - conspiracy to obstruct justice, a Class D felony. Waggoner also filed a motion to dismiss the other charges against Ralph Fisher and said the new charge encompasses the old. One of the reasons for requesting dismissal of the assisting- a-criminal charge, Waggoner said, is that a provision in the law says a parent, spouse or child cannot be charged for assisting such a relative in a crime.

No decisions were made in court and Fisher is scheduled to appear in court again on May 17.

Jason Fisher will be in court Wednesday seeking that bond be set. The court initially ordered the younger Fisher held on $1 million bond and later revoked it; he has been held in the Kosciusko County Jail in lieu of bond since that time.

Also charged in connection with Vroman's death is Lawrence Grant, 29, of Goshen. He was returned in February to local authorities from Florida, where he was taken into custody shortly after the murder investigation began. Grant reportedly contacted local and Florida authorities with information about Vroman's death prior to her Jan. 15 disappearance becoming a murder investigation.

Grant faces charges of assisting a criminal, unlawful movement of a body and auto theft. He is being held in the Noble County Jail.

William Vroman, 32, formerly of Milford, is charged with auto theft, and George W. Aldrich, 28, of Etna Green, is charged with auto theft and burglary. Those charges stem from a Dec. 2 theft of more than $100,000 worth of vehicles from Rice Ford in Warsaw. Vroman remains incarcerated at Kosciusko County Jail and Aldrich is free on bond.

Authorities have said that all of the men named in this case have some affiliation with the Country Car Co. [[In-content Ad]]
