Auditions for the October show were conducted last week by director Jennifer K. Shepherd and other members of the theater’s acting leadership team. The cast consists of eight men, seven women and a handful of walk-on characters yet to be announced.
“We had no idea what sort of turn-out to expect for these auditions,” Shepherd said. “But the talented group that came to try out definitely made for some tough casting decisions. That’s a wonderful problem to have.”
The cast includes Lori Widman as Penny; Tara Akers, Essie; Barb Heimbach, Rheba; Dan Kuhn, Paul; Dave Baumgartner, Mr. DePinna; Phil Herbruck, Ed; Bill Smith, Donald; Gerald Cox, Grandpa; Kayley Herbruck, Alice; Jason Dugger, Henderdson; Justin Weaver, Tony; John Conley, Kolenkhov; Amy Cox, Gay Wellington; Chris Mahan, Mr. Kirby; Cindy Nash, Mrs. Kirby; and Tammie Robinson as Olga.
Rehearsals for “You Can’t Take It With You” begin Monday. But according to Jason Dugger, acting secretary for the theater, beginning work with the actors is just one step in the process.
“Theater is a collaborative art, and we still need people of all different skill sets to be involved offstage,” he said.

Center Street Community Theatre’s production of “You Can’t Take It With You” will be performed Oct. 10, 11 and 12 on the Wagon Wheel Theatre stage.
As a branch of the Wagon Wheel Theatre, the Center Street Community Theatre is a non-sectarian organization dedicated to stimulating and maintaining local interest and participation in the theatre arts.
