Census Forms Being Mailed, Jobs Available

This month, census forms are being mailed out and several areas - including Kosciusko County - are still looking for census workers.
For anyone at least 18 years old, temporary positions are available pending passing a written test. An applicant must bring two forms of identification.
In Kosciusko County, southern areas of the county as well as North Webster and the northeast corner of the county still need workers.[[In-content Ad]]For those interested in taking the census test to qualify for a job, testing is ongoing in the county.
In Warsaw, the library is holding testing this Friday, March 12, 19 and 26 at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Lakeland Christian Academy is hosting two test dates March 10 and 24 at 6:30 p.m.
Additional testing at the Warsaw library will be March 15, 22 and 29 at 6 p.m.
Syracuse will hold testing Monday and March 22 at the Syracuse Community Center at 4 p.m.
Silver Lake is still in need of census workers and will hold testing at the clerk-treasurer's office Thursday, March 11, 18 and 25 at 2 p.m.
North Webster also is looking for workers and will hold more testing every Tuesday for the rest of the month at 2 p.m. at the Tippecanoe Township Community Building.
Etna Green is holding two test dates at the Heritage Park Building. Applicants can test March 16 and 30 at 10 a.m.
Pierceton will hold testing every Tuesday for the rest of this month at Pierceton Public Library at 3 p.m.
Every Saturday for the rest of this month, Bell Memorial Library in Mentone will host census testing at 10 a.m.
For those who won't be seeking census jobs, full participation in this year's census is encouraged.
The census helps determine funding for schools, local and state government.
In the 2000 Census, 72 percent of the country participated.
The 2010 Census is only 10 questions long.
The census or census workers will not ask for bank account numbers or social security numbers.
If someone claiming to be a census worker asks for such information, residents are encouraged to call local law enforcement.
The census also cannot be filed online. April 1 is designated as Census Day.
