NORTH WEBSTER – Carolyn J. Olinger, 81, North Webster, passed away at 6 a.m. Feb. 7, 2015, at her residence.
She was born April 3, 1933, in Fort Wayne, to Albert and Irene Kelley Loshe.
She grew up in Fort Wayne and attended Catholic schools in Fort Wayne. She retired from ITT Corporation, Fort Wayne, as a supervisor after 42 years of service. She also formerly served as the president for the union, and moved to the North Webster area more than 20 years ago permanently after summering there for many years.
She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Church, Pierceton; a life member of the American Legion Post #253 Auxiliary, North Webster, where she formerly served as an officer; and Women of the Moose Lodge Chapter 921, Warsaw. She formerly attended St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Fort Wayne.
Surviving are three grandchildren: Taber (and Ryan Murray) Olinger, Fort Wayne; Jesse Olinger, Orlando, Fla.; and Caleb Cook, Columbia City and currently at Marine boot camp in San Diego, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Sandra (and spouse Randy) Cook, Columbia City. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joseph Olinger; a sister, Sharon Morel; and two brothers, Don and Bob Loshe.
A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Church, 408 W. Catholic St., Pierceton, with Fr. Charles Herman officiating. Private burial is in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
Calling is from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
An honorary gathering will follow the funeral mass at the American Legion, Ind. 13, North Webster, which includes an open invitation to share great experiences and stories of her.
Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster, is in charge of arrangements.
