ELKHART – Carol Sue Mock, 79,  of Elkhart, went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband Dean at 2:26 p.m. Jan. 1, 2012, in her residence, with her family at her bedside.

She was born June 22, 1932, in rural Cromwell, to Shirley Leroy and Julia Ann Jones Kalb, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 18, 1950, at North Webster Church of God, she married Dean R. Mock, who died Sept. 5, 2006.

In 1950 she graduated with honors from Cromwell High School, serving as class secretary. She was elected to serve at “Girls State” at Indiana University by the Cromwell American Legion Auxiliary in 1949. She was co-owner of Mocks T.V., established in 1954. In 1997, she retired from the business she successfully operated during her husband’s 27-year tenure as Elkhart County State Representative. She was a member of the Elkhart County Republican Women’s Society, serving as president. As a member of Elkhart Northside Church of the Nazarene, she served as a board member and traveled to the Holy Land in 1980. 

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Sue (and spouse Dana) Baugher, Goshen, and Elaine Marie Earnhart, Elkhart; a sister, Shirley Virginia (and spouse Wayne L.) Reed, Kimmell; four granddaughters;   and  seven great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery.

Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
