NORTH WEBSTER – Carol O. Thomas, 79, of North Webster, died at 1:01 p.m. May 20, 2011, in his residence.
He was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Wells County, to Herbert and Arletta Newcomb Thomas. On Jan. 8, 1972, in Carmel, he married Betty L. Combs, who survives.
He graduated from Lancaster High School, Bluffton, and was a U.S. Marine veteran. He retired in 1978 from Briner, Bluffton, and was  owner/operator of Thomas Sales & Service, Bluffton. He lived most of his life in Bluffton until moving to the North Webster area in 1979. He was a member of the American Legion Post 253, North Webster, and Moose Lodge.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kathleen (and spouse  Donald) Nave, South Whitley; a stepson, Michael (and spouse Gina) Hollingsworth, North Webster; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with Pastor Brad Cox officiating and with military rites by members of North Webster American Legion. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
