PERU Ð Carol 'Maughmer' Gamble, 75, Caring Hands Healthcare, Peru, died at 4 a.m. March 20, 2009, in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo.

She was born Dec. 6, 1933, in Walton, to Francis B. and Mildred I. Crusan Maughmer. She married Paul Ward, who preceded her in death; George Bolner, who preceded her in death; and on Feb. 14, 1976, she married James R. Gamble, who preceded her in death June 4, 2003.

She retired from Chi Am's, North Webster. She was a member of Calvary Union Church, Walton. She was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Peru, and a former member of American Legion Auxiliary, North Webster.

Surviving are three sons, Rodger P. (and spouse Sherry) Murray, Michael L. (and spouse Luisa) Murray and Robert M. Ward, all of Peru; a stepson, David T. (and spouse Patty) Gamble, Huntington; two stepdaughters, Janelle R. (and spouse Tom) Gates, Huntington, and Kimberly A. (and spouse George) Bice, Muncie; two brothers, Robert V. (and spouse Lue) Maughmer, and Ned A. (and spouse Janice) Maughmer, all of Walton; a sister, Nancy J. (and spouse James) Hager, West Palm Beach, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two step-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Rebecca Sue Murray; and a brother, Bill D. (and spouse Maxine) Maughmer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, with Pastor Mike Stow officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.

Calling is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
