NORTH MANCHESTER – Carol J. Shepherd, 61, of North Manchester, died at 7:27 p.m. Feb. 24, 2013, in her sister’s residence in Westfield.                                 
She was born May 27, 1951, in Floyd County, Ky., to Walter and Ella Hale Shepherd.  
She retired after a 30-year career as a registered nurse, first in the maternity ward at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, and later in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1969 and Lutheran School of Nursing.  She was a member of TOPS.
Surviving are a stepson, Michael Rogers, North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Melissa Neal, Fort Wayne; two brothers, Walt (and spouse Sharon) Shepherd, Columbia City, and Jeffrey Shepherd, North Manchester; five sisters: Pamela (and spouse Dennis) Helmer, Rexford, Mont.; Barbara Honeycutt, Silver Lake; Mary (and spouse Jim) Bucher and Bonnie (and spouse Mitchell) Shenefield, North Manchester; and Haley (and spouse Doug) Sims, Westfield; four step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Cecil Honeycutt, and a nephew, Andrew Sims.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, with Pastor Frank Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Swank Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
