LOGANSPORT - Carl Wilson, of Winona Lake, and formerly of Onward, died at 6:30 a.m. Jan. 25, 2008, in Howard Regional Health System.

He was born Feb. 15, 1915, in Peru, to Richard C. and Olive Mae Gilver Wilson. On June 16, 1948, in Rochester, he married Helen M. Barkman, who died January 23, 2007.

He was a Onward High School graduate and attended Purdue University. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, stationed in North Africa. A lifelong farmer, he farmed in the Onward area before retiring to Winona Lake. He was a lifetime member of Onward Christian Church and attended First Christian Church, Warsaw. He was a member of Walton Masonic Lodge, Onward Grange and Logansport Eagles, and served as a Boy Scout leader for many years with the former Onward troop. He dearly loved his community. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Wilson-Quinn; two brothers, Paul and Fred Wilson; a nephew, Keith C. "Sonny" Wilson; and two nieces, Shirley McLaughlin and Elizabeth "Libby" Cavanaugh.

A memorial service, with military rites and flag presentation, will be at a later date at Onward Christian Church. Private burial will be in Deer Creek Cemetery, Onward.
