He was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Nappanee, to Willard and Anna Cripe Hepler. On Sept. 20, 1953, in Leesburg, he married Rebecca L. “Becky” Hawkins, who survives.
He was a lifetime Elkhart/Kosciusko counties area resident and attended West Millwood & Carris Country School. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was a retired farmer; formerly worked at Weatherhead Corp., Syracuse; was a self-employed painter; and was former owner and operator of Carl’s Drive Inn, Milford; Dairy Queen, Syracuse; and Syracuse Bakery. He attended New Testament Baptist Church, Goshen.
Also surviving are three sons, Carl Jr. (and spouse Cathy) Hepler and Todd (and spouse Vickie) Hepler, all of Warsaw, and Phillip Hepler, Larwill; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Lou (and spouse Gene) Teeter, Warsaw; and a brother, Richard “Dick” (and spouse Delores) Hepler, Milford. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with Pastor Michael Aman officiating.
Calling is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
