NORTH WEBSTER – Carl Allen “Al” Heck, 77, North Webster, passed away at 3:05 p.m. May 10, 2014, at his home.
He was born March 23, 1937, in Fort Wayne, to Joseph Franklin and Sarah Jane McKeever Heck. On July 5, 1960, in North Webster, he married Sandra S. “Sandy” Shock, who survives in North Webster.
He grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated in 1955 from Northside High School, Fort Wayne.
He was the owner of Heck Trucking, North Webster, since 1987 and he formerly drove truck for Pepsi Cola and Old Crown Brewery, Fort Wayne. He also lived in Huntertown and Columbia City before moving to North Webster in 1988. He was a former coach for Northcrest Little League Baseball for 11 years.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kimberly (and spouse Shane) Kennedy, Churubusco; three sons: Ryan Heck, North Webster; Steve and V. Joseph (and spouse Karna) Heck, all of Columbia City; seven grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Connie (and spouse Duane) Likes, Fort Wayne; Frieda Keyser, Plainwell, Mich.; and Cheryl (and spouse Earl) McDonald, Green Valley, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant grandson; and three brothers: Donald, Robert and Victor Heck.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster, with Pastor Matt Bock of Wolf Lake United Methodist Church officiating. Burial is in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
