SYRACUSE – Carey Lee Morseau, 54, previously of Dowagiac, Mich., passed away Dec. 4, 2014, in Syracuse, following an illness.
He was born May 16, 1960, in Dowagiac, to Leonard and Cecilia Vanderbuttes Morseau.
He was raised by his grandparents, Madalene and Raymond Morseau Sr.
He graduated from Niles High School in 1978. He worked in the trailer manufacturing industry and was very dedicated to family. He was a member of the Pokagon band of Potawatomi Indians and very proud of his heritage. He was looking forward to becoming an elder with the tribe. He enjoyed playing baseball and proved to be a great baseball player.
Surviving are a daughter, Whitney Patterson, Wabash; two grandchildren, Aaliyah and Myles; a brother, Leonard “Pudge” Morseau, Syracuse; two sisters, Tina (and spouse Ervin) Starrett, Palm Bay, Fla., and April Gibson, Dowagiac; his other brothers and sisters include; Marie (and spouse Jesse) Manley-Harwood, Catherine (and spouse Mark) Ford and Ronnie (and spouse Sandy) Morseau, all of Dowagiac; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters: Raymond, Sylvia, John, Francis and Tom Morseau.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery, 51841 Leach Rd., Dowagiac. Burial will follow.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. today with a traditional drum ceremony at 7 p.m. at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac.
