By Staff Report-

Vickie Lootens, employment services supervisor at Cardinal Services Inc., recently received the Rebecca McDonald Award given annually to the outstanding supported employment professional in the State of Indiana.

Lootens manages Cardinal's Career Links program, helping people with intellectual disabilities secure jobs in the community.

Lootens and her staff work with local employers to determine if there are jobs in their company that could be appropriate for a person with a disability. Then the job is matched to a consumer of Cardinal Services. Currently, there are more than 60 consumers employed by 50 companies throughout Fulton, Kosciusko, Cass and Elkhart counties.

Lootens serves as the vice president of the Northern Region of IN-APSE and is an active member of the region's Conference Committee.

She has taken a special interest in making sure vocational rehab is connected with outgoing high school students so they are prepared for employment. Lootens will travel to the national APSE conference in Wisconsin next summer as the Indiana nominee for the national award.[[In-content Ad]]
