By Staff Report-

After being known as Cardinal Center for 28 years, the local non-for-profit has changed its name to Cardinal Services Inc. of Indiana.

The organization also has a new logo.

The official name is Cardinal Services Inc. of Indiana, but for most purposes Cardinal Services Inc. will be used, according to Cardinal Services Inc. of Indiana CEO N. Jane Greene.[[In-content Ad]]The reason for the new name is due to changes in the organization itself and the way its services are provided to consumers.

"It is our hope that the community will embrace our new name," Greene said.

At one time, nearly all programs were based at the center of North Bay Drive in Warsaw. However, over time the delivery of services became more community based to meet the needs of those served. Day programs will continue at the center.

Staff members work in countless different locations across a four-county area.

They connect people with resources and provide employment support, residential support, transportation, translation service, family and children services and help people achieve their personal goals.

Another change unveiled by Greene and Cardinal Board of Directors Chairman John Warren is a new logo.

From one perspective, it is two people together, the one slightly behind the other letting the first lead but supporting their efforts.

From another perspective, the image is of an adult and child side by side, symbolizing the children's services.

"In both cases the arms are uplifted, joyful and triumphant, and that's what we strive toward with each person we serve," Warren said.

Cardinal Services offers residential, employment and day programs for people with developmental disabilities, Women Infants and Children services, Healthy Families Head Start/Early Head Start and First Steps for families and children.

Other services are available for the Hispanic community through Sus Amigos, and local transportation with the Kosciusko Area Bus Service. Last year, the programs served more than 4,000 people in the community.
