Car Wreck Causes Power Outage

Almost 250 NIPSCO customers south of Warsaw were without power for an hour after a vehicle struck a utility pole Friday evening.
Kirby J. Lemond, 59, Claypool, was driving on Ind. 15 near West CR 550S around 7 p.m. Friday when his vehicle slipped on a patch of ice, left the roadway and struck a utility pole. He declined treatment when a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. deputy arrived.
The downed pole caused 248 customers to lose power until it could be restored a little over an hour later, according to information from NIPSCO. Repairs at the scene were still being finished up as of 9 p.m.
Damage from the accident was estimated at between $10,000 and $25,000.
