By Katie Wonderly-

Two people were seriously injured Monday afternoon after their vehicle collided with a house in the 3900 block of CR 150W.
According to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department,  deputies and emergency personnel responded to call that came in at approximately 3:30 p.m., reporting a vehicle crashed into a residence. KCSD deputies stated that they arrived to find a 2010 Chevy Camaro, heavily damaged, in a residential yard.
Lutheran Kosciusko EMS transported the driver of the vehicle, identified as Erick Michael Sawyer, 23, Warsaw, to Kosciusko Community Hospital in serious, but stable condition.
The passenger, identified as Eli Hernandez, 22, Warsaw, was trapped inside the vehicle and required extraction by firemen from the Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Territory and Leesburg-Plain Township Fire Department. Hernandez was removed and immediately transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Hernandez suffered a severe head injury and is listed in serious condition.
A preliminarily investigation into the crash by KCSD deputies determined that Sawyer had been northbound on CR 150W, traveling at a high rate of speed, when he lost control of his vehicle.  Sawyer then left the west side of the roadway, slid across a yard, impacting a house before coming to rest.
As a result of the crash, a natural gas line was struck at the residence, causing firemen and officers to use extreme caution until arriving NIPSCO officials could arrive at the scene and secure the leak.
According to the press release, the crash is still under investigation.[[In-content Ad]]
