MILFORD - Captain Howard H. "Hop" Haab, 89, of Milford, died at 1:20 p.m. April 27, 2007, in Lakeland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Milford.

He was born April 20, 1918, in Milford, to Fred O. and Mary M. Hartter Haab. On Aug. 21, 1948, he married Joan Clem, who died in 1980. On June 25, 1983, he married Jane Schultz, who died in 2004.

A longtime Milford resident, he retired from the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He ran Milford Dairy for eight years and was a Milford school bus driver for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of American Legion Post 223; Moose Lodge, Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Syracuse; and (ROTC) Acacia Fraternity at Indiana University.

Surviving are two sons, Dana Haab, Mentone, and William Haab, Milford; a stepson, John Schultz, Warsaw; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Milford Cemetery with the Rev. Jesse Beer officiating.

No calling is planned.
