I am not opposed to "capitalism" which has made America a great nation. Let us be opposed to "predatory capitalism" which helped to cause the financial meltdown that menaces our country. "Predatory Capitalism" occurs when profit-making and profit-taking conflicts with the Public interest. Less taxes are paid, competion is eliminated, wages and salaries are cut, the environment is disregarded, dangerous and harmful products are sold that maim and kill our people while workers are treated as "expendable human resources" causing job losses that ruin the lives of many. Workers are are left without income, health insurance, dignity and potential to lose their homes and everything. Workers pay their share of taxes. They support local government, businesses, schools, churches, charities and other valuable infrastructure of our communities. They bring life to our towns, villages and cities for which we all derive great benefit.

The financial meltdown has clearly shown the "Me" mentality that many Amercians have been known for. "Predatory capitalism" was at work in the financial meltdown that destroyed many lives. It has damaged the reputation of the United States worldwide. Many have become rich on the backs of others who have been destroyed financially and/or lost jobs or both. They can't pay taxes to the local government because they no longer have jobs or have lost their homes. The bailout and stimulus monies have not stopped some corporation and business leaders from taking care of themselves first no matter how others are suffering on less. This "predatory capitalism" may be a part of the slow growth as workers are not being rehired to help get the economy back on track. Workers pay taxes, social security and spend money on the local economy.

If we are going to support capitalism to keep America strong and help us out financial downturn we must be sure that capitalism willl regulate itself so that it does not become "predatory" in nature. If capitalism destroys the common person in the process of making the "Almighty Dollar" what is gained? If capitalism finds it impossible to regulate itself, it shouldn't be upset with the government for becoming involved. Let us make sure that America won't tolerate "predatory capitalism" as it will destroy the fabric of America instead of making it stronger.
