Call Named Warsaw Council President

Call, who previously served as clerk-treasurer for 26 years, was selected to fill the seat during Tuesday night’s Warsaw City Council meeting.
At-large city councilwoman Cindy Dobbins nominated Call to serve as president.
Councilman Jeff Grose nominated District 2 city councilman Charlie Smith to serve as council president, and councilwoman Diane Quance also spoke in favor of Smith serving as council president.
After the vote, Call received the most votes with councilmen Mike Klondaris and Jerry Frush, and councilwoman Dobbins voting in support of Call to serve as council president.
Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer previously served as council president.
Thallemer made mayoral appointments, and the council made appointments to boards and commissions.
Board of Public Works and Safety member mayoral appointments are Thallemer, Smith, and Grose.
Warsaw Plan Commission mayoral appointment is Rick Keeven, and Lacy Francis, Jeff Grose, and Mike Klondaris are council appointments.
Board of Zoning Appeals non-voting council representative mayoral appointment is Call and mayoral appointment is Rick Keeven.
Redevelopment Commission mayoral appointments are George Clemens, Jeff Johnson, Tim Meyer, and Dan Robinson as a non-voting member, and Smith and Rick Snodgrass as council appointments.
Economic Development Commission mayoral appointment is Tom Allen, and council appointment is Robinson.
Aviation Board mayoral non-voting member and council representative appointment is Smith.
Oakwood Cemetery Board mayoral appointment is Lewis Dobbins, and non- voting member mayoral appointment council representative is Jerry Frush.
Parks and Recreation Board mayoral appointment is Michelle Boxell and council representative non-voting mayoral appointment is Frush.
Traffic Safety Commission mayoral appointments were Dobbins and Klondaris, and Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Territory mayoral appointment is Quance, and Thallemer, and Warsaw Housing Authority mayoral appointment non-voting member is Quance.
The council also approved three resolutions including transferring $123,000 from the general fund to the general bond fund.
The council approved a resolution for approving investments and electronic funds transfers.
The resolution allows the clerk-treasurer authorization to transact the city’s business with a financial institution through the use of electronic funds transfer.
The transactions will include investments, bond and coupon payments, payroll transactions, and payment of federal and state taxes.
The council approved a resolution transferring cumulative capital improvement funds to the general fund totalling $12,000.
The council reviewed a 2012 sponsorship guide for Warsaw Parks department.
Thallemer said he will be meeting with city planner Jeremy Skinner and consultants to review a strategic plan for the city.[[In-content Ad]]
